Home Manager | Mosswood Care Home | Paisley
Salary up to £65,000 Annual Bonus up to 40% Private Medical Insurance

Mosswood Care Home is a highly regarded 71-bed nursing, residential and dementia service in Paisley, known for its exceptional standards, strong culture and long-standing leadership stability. With Care Inspectorate grades of all 5s, 92% occupancy and an average weekly fee of £1,760, Mosswood sits firmly within Care Concern Group’s top tier of Scottish services.

After more than 11 years of consistent leadership, the current Home Manager is stepping away from the role to pursue a new career path. This creates a rare and significant opportunity for an experienced, values-driven Home Manager to take on stewardship of one of the group’s most respected homes - not to fix it, but to protect, strengthen and evolve it.

This is not a rescue mission. It is a succession appointment into a complex, high-performing, emotionally rich service where continuity, credibility and leadership maturity matter.

Mosswood provides nursing, residential and dementia care, including for residents living with stress and distress behaviours, alongside respite services. It is a large, clinically demanding home with a deeply established staff group, strong community links, and families who trust the service. The next Home Manager must be capable of carrying that responsibility with confidence and care.

Contract

  • Salary up to £65,000
  • Annual performance bonus of up to 40% of salary (KPI-linked)
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Pension scheme
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave

The Opportunity

As Home Manager, you will hold full accountability for the performance, culture and reputation of Mosswood. Over the next 12–24 months, your focus will be on maintaining the home’s outstanding Care Inspectorate outcomes, retaining and developing its strong workforce, protecting occupancy and financial performance, and ensuring Mosswood continues to be a place where people feel proud to live and work.

You will be inheriting a home with excellent foundations, but that brings its own pressures. High-performing services are fragile if leadership wavers. You will need to quickly earn trust, understand the culture, and provide steady, credible leadership that gives staff, families and professionals confidence that Mosswood’s standards will not slip.

With a relatively new Deputy Manager in post, this role requires a Home Manager who is clinically confident, operationally strong and emotionally intelligent. Someone who can both lead and support, set direction while remaining close to the detail, and provide visible, reassuring leadership across a large and complex service.

A Snapshot of Mosswood Today

Mosswood operates at 92% occupancy and delivers strong commercial performance with an average weekly fee of £1,760. The home consistently achieves Care Inspectorate grades of all 5s and holds an outstanding carehome score of 9.8, reflecting both regulatory strength and exceptional family satisfaction.

The staff team is well established, highly committed and deeply connected to the home’s values and residents. Mosswood also has strong community links, including intergenerational work, which form a key part of its identity.

This is a home that works, but it works because of leadership, discipline, and culture. The next Home Manager must be able to preserve that while continuing to evolve the service.

About You

You are an experienced Home Manager, ideally leading a nursing or dementia service of similar or larger size. You have a strong track record of maintaining strong and consistent Care Inspectorate outcomes, retaining staff, running a stable operation and managing the commercial realities of a large care home.

You understand that leadership in a high-performing home is not about dramatic change, but about consistency, credibility and thoughtful progression. You are comfortable managing a large budget, complex staffing models and high clinical acuity, and you can articulate how quality, workforce stability and financial performance connect.

A nursing background is strongly preferred, given the size and clinical complexity of the home and the development stage of the deputy leadership team. You bring calm authority, emotional intelligence and professional confidence to your leadership.

Most importantly, you are values-led. You care about people, culture and standards in equal measure. You know how to listen, how to coach, how to hold people to account fairly, and how to lead in a way that builds trust rather than fear.

Leadership Style & Cultural Fit

Mosswood needs a leader who can balance multiple leadership styles. Transformational when vision is needed, servant-led when teams need support, coaching when people are growing, and values-driven at all times.

You will be joining a home with a strong emotional history and identity. Your role is not to overwrite it, but to respect it, strengthen it, and carry it forward with confidence and professionalism.

Why Mosswood?

Opportunities like this are rare. It is far easier to take over a struggling home than a successful one, but far more meaningful to protect something that works.
